What is a copywriter, anyways?
“A copywriter is a salesperson behind a typewriter” -Judith Charles
Copywriting is using persuasive language to get the reader to take action. This can be buying something, opt-in for an email list, downloading an online program, etc.
But copywriters don’t just create content, they provide value to your business and to your customers. When the copy is effective, it converts - driving responses and increases purchases.
50% of consumers claim that content marketing has a positive impact on their decisions when shopping.
A good copywriter has a useful set of skills to help you grow your business. These are some of the skills you should look for in a copywriter:
SEO & keyword knowledge
Creative writing and storytelling
Blogging
Email marketing
Online ads
Case studies
Basics of design
Research, sourcing, and citations
Copywriting is not about spamming your customers with ads, no one wants that. Instead, it’s but about engaging with your audience and providing something of value, so they buy your product because they want to, not because they feel pressured.
2. Why do I need a copywriter if I can write copy myself?
Of course, you can write your own content, but a copywriter does more than just writing. As a copywriter I am on top of changes in the algorithm of Google, making sure your content is always relevant, remains fresh, and with the right formatting.
A copywriter captures your voice and the essence of your brand, writing persuasive copy that prompts action, generates leads, and converts. With a copywriter, you don’t have to worry about grammar mistakes and irrelevant or duplicate content.
A copywriter is an investment that saves you time, so you can enjoy your morning coffee!
3. Why do I need to start a blog?
Blogs are vital to reach wider audiences and build authority. It drives more business to your business. Think of it as the magnet that draws people to your site. More people = more traffic = more sales.
Businesses with active blogs get 97% more leads.
An effective blog is a very powerful way to build trust and let your customers know that YOU are the expert in your field. With strategically written content and targeted keywords, you promote your content while boosting traffic and creating reputable results. Blogs convert readers into paying customers.
Blogs are the gift that keeps on giving. It drives long-term results by appearing on web searches long after it’s been published and brings traffic continuously.
4. What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Using SEO generates more quality traffic to your site by driving organic search engines results. This means more traffic without paid ads.
Optimizing your site helps you rank higher in Google or any search engine and it attracts potential customers that are interested in your products or services (aka quality traffic, the kind that converts).
5. How long does it take for SEO to work?
There is no specific time or date. It depends on many factors like domain age, competition, website design, meta descriptions, etc. Generally speaking, it takes 4 to 6 months.
It might sound like a long time, but like all good things, it’s worth the wait. SEO grows over time, this means that the traffic you are getting in a 4-month period is less than what you’ll get in 8 or 12 months. Constant improvement with SEO is the foundation for long-term success.
Can we speed things up? Again, it depends. Some improvements are visible right away—like engaging content and a better-organized site—but overall SEO takes time.
6. Do you offer revisions?
Of course! By all means, I offer two free rounds of edits. After the first draft is delivered, you have three weeks to request edits and make suggestions. Your input helps me figure out your preferred style, so the next project has fewer edits.
My main goal is for you to be thrilled about the final result of your project! If this requires more than one edit, we will figure out a way to get a completed project that you love.
7. What are your rates?
Check out my rates and services page, you’ll find pricing for different projects. If you don’t see what you have in mind listed, send me a message.
I price projects individually, depending on factors like research, length, etc. You will always know how much it will cost you upfront.
8. Do you hire other writers?
No, I don’t. All projects are written by me.
9. What is your payment policy?
To begin a project, I ask for a 50% deposit. Once I deliver the first draft, the remaining 50% of the payment is due.
10. How long will my project take?
Depends on the project. All deadlines and turnaround times will be discussed and agreed upon by both parties. A formal proposal and contract will outline all the details.
